Pointe South Mountain Resort - Phoenix, AZ
In August 2000, Destination Hotels & Resorts undertook management of Pointe South Mountain Resort.
The market had become saturated with chain-affiliated hotels, and Pointe South needed to distinguish itself within the market as a world-class resort and destination. Destination was selected to manage the plan to reposition the property as a distinctly unique experience for conference groups, business, and leisure travelers.
While retaining most of the key management, Destination focused on improvements and enhancements for the property. A large renovation plan was put into motion, including a multi-million dollar transformation of the grounds into a public promenade to be used as a unique gathering area for groups, a multi-million dollar realignment of a road that runs through the resort, a redesign of all rooms, and remodeling of the 2000 square-foot West Pointe Penthouse into a plush executive retreat. Perhaps the most exciting and dramatic addition was the Oasis Water Adventure, a one-of-a-kind water recreation center. The park features a 10,000 square-foot wave pool, a 950-foot long rolling river, and the 83-foot tall Slide Canyon Tower with three thrilling slide rides.
